Welcome to this course on Revit Families. We're going to jump right into creating families, so this course assumes you have some knowledge with working in Revit projects.

If you've been wanting to delve into family creation, but don't have the time or don't know where to start, then this course is for you. When learning new software, doing by example is a great approach. So these videos are structured so that you can follow along in small projects.

We will cover creating many types of fully parametric Revit families. From curtain panels, and furniture, to detail components and more.

Create a parametric table from scratch

1
Picking the right template

Picking the right template is the first and most important step in family content creation.

2
The family creator user interface

Here's a brief overview of the family creation enviornment in comparison to the project enviornment you may be use to.

3
Adding types

Types are something that can confuse those who haven't worked in Revit projects. Not to worry. As you start to build families in this course you will understand them, as we go over them again and again.

4
Setting up the scaffolding

I like to think of families as individual buildings. The scaffolding to these mini buildings are the reference planes, and we use them extensivly for family content building.

5
Modeling

3D modeling in Revit is rather simple. Here we go over how to make simple extrusions.

6
Testing in a project

Test, retest, and test again. Try to imagine how your families will be used (or broken) by others.

Definitely! If you have an internet connection, courses on Udemy are available on any device at any time. If you don't have an internet connection, some instructors also let their students download course lectures. That's up to the instructor though, so make sure you get on their good side!
