As we are moving in the era of computers, it is becoming very essential to learn different softwares useful in civil engineering as well. As world is demanding for more beautiful, more strong, yet more simple structure, engineers are leaning towards using softwares to try out different possibilities of best outcome. For Structural Engineer, now a days for designing buildings of 80 storey or even 110 storeys, manual calculations are becoming completed for analysis purpose. BENTLEY's STAAD-PRO v8i is a structural designing software used around the globe for this purpose.
Software consist of different STANDARD BUILDING CODES of many countries (e.g china,USA,India,etc.) inbuilt. All play important roles in respective countries as these are the standards set by countries.
User can Analyse and design
- Simple beams
- 2d frame (multi storey)
- 3d frames (multi storey)
- Continuous beams
- Truss / truss members
- water tank
- shear wall
- bridges
- etc.
This will take less than a month to learn software, but remember it takes 3 to 4 months to master the software. The course is constructed in such a way that you will start from very basics and might end up creating Burj Khalifa !!!

3Introduction to STAAD-PRO v8i
STAAD stands for STructural Analysis And Design.
This videos gives information about basic history that one should know. Not much deeper as Its not needed.
This also covers the basic methods of analysis on which STAAD PRO functions works
MOMENT DISTRIBUTION METHOD- This method is based on the concept of transferring the loads on the beams to the supports at their ends.
- This method is suitable for Nodal, beam and simple frame
STIFFNESS MATRIX METHOD
- This method uses method of matrices
- This method is suitable for 3d frames, complex frames.

STAAD PRO works on a typical step-by-step procedure system. Each step has its own importance. Importance in the sense of its Function & its Place. Engineers has design the software such that every step must be followed in order, as given. you can not miss single step or you can not change the order of steps. Your model may get analysed but will have errors.

6Components of geometry & STAAD EDITOR method
This is Very important video and covers basic components without which model can not be built in STAAD-PRO. It consist deep flash on :
- NODE
- BEAM
- PLATE
These three things are needed to build any type of model.
In second part of video, one of the methods for INPUT OF STAAD-PRO i.e. STAAD EDITOR method is discussed. Along with the theoretical part , two problems are solved as well. -
