Civil Engineering Courses by Hamid El Darwich:
Learn the basic concepts, tools, and functions of AutoDesk Civil 3D. If you are new to Civil 3D, then this course is for you.
What to expect from this course:
After completion of this course, you are expected to be able to perform the basic calculations using civil 3D software. This course target the beginners. It’s a great way to start with basics and then move to more advanced courses.
The Power of Civil 3D:
In the past, engineers used to perform earth work calculations manually; this usually takes a lot of time and effort in addition to the human’s errors expected. Using Civil 3D, such calculations can be performed easily withing minutes. In addition, Civil 3D produces printable and neat reports that can be presented to key people in your company.
What are exactly the points covered in this course:
This course focuses on the following Civil 3D skills:
- Creation of Points and Surfaces
- Adjustment of Surfaces
- Creation of Surface Profile
- Creation of Sample Lines
- Performing Calculations such as Cut and Fill (Earth Work)
- Performing Calculations such as Pavement Layers quantity Estimation
- Understanding different method – and concept – of Take Off Criterion
Students completing the course will have basic knowledge of.AutoDesk Civil 3D. The course is easy to follow; all of the resources needed are posted in the course content. What are you waiting for ! register now.

3Creating Points and Points Group
In this video I have explained how to create Civil 3D points and points group.
-
4Importing Points from Points File
In this lecture, you will learn how to import points from points file to Civil 3D. The different types of files that can be imported are presented.
Note: you can use any points file you have. Excel file can be used, or even Notepad file. Check the link I have added to download a sample points file from AutoDesk.

5Create TIN Surface
In this video I went through creating a TIN surface in Civil 3D using a point group. You will learn how to adjust the automatically created surface in order to reach a desired surface.
-
6Create Center-line Alignment
In this part I have explained how to create a horizontal alignment (center-line alignment) in Civil 3D.
-
7Create Surface Profile
You will learn how to create Vertical Alignment using PVI points. You will also learn how to adjust the slopes of the curves.
-
8Create Super-Elevation View
You will learn how to create a neat view for your super-elevation calculation. This view shows you all of the different transitions in any kind of super-elevation.
-
9Create Vertical Alignment
You will learn how to create Vertical Alignment using PVI points. You will also learn how to adjust the slopes of the curves.
-
10Create Assembly
You will learn how to create basic cross section of roads using the assembly tool. The section includes the slopes, pavement layers, medians, and shoulders of the road.
-
11Create Corridor from Assembly
You will learn how to create the corridor using the previously created assembly.
-
12Create Sample Lines and Section Views
Based on the surface profile, your road cross section slopes will change. You will learn how to create cross sections of your road using sample lines.
-
13Calculate Cut and Fill Volumes
This is the most essential part of Civil 3D; this lesson teaches you how to perform the basic calculations and how to interpret the cut and fill volumes.
-
14Compute Volumes of Pavement Layers
Sometimes you are asked to calculate the amount of asphalt or base material needed for a certain road; this lesson will guide you through this process.
